The River Spey and its tributaries are renowned for the excellence of the fishing. Indeed the river gives its name to a type of casting favoured for catching larger fish.
Muckrach Lodge, nestled in its own ten acres of the Cairngorms National Park and a stone’s throw from the river, was built to look after sportsmen and women, so we are naturally proud to be able to offer this amazing package. On arrival and following your welcome drink you’ll enjoy dinner from our a la carte menu. The restaurant at Muckrach is one of the best in the area, and offers fine food and fine dining without compromise. Then relax in the bar to meet the Muckrach Ghillie to discuss the next days fishing before you retire to your well appointed superior room.
Following an excellent breakfast you’ll be collected by your Ghillie and whisked away by Land Rover to the best fishing pools on 4 miles of the mighty River Spey Grantown Association water. Alternatively you could fish 12 miles of the River Dulnain which is genuine wild fishing where only local knowledge will get you a fish. Last year the Grantown water produced 426 salmon and 579 sea trout. Our ghillie give you all the training and tuition you need, share secrets and tips learnt from a lifetime of fishing, and after lunch you’ll be ready and able to catch your first salmon. Even if you don’t, you’ll enjoy using your new found skills and techniques on a magical day out. If you stay longer, you'll get to know the two rivers and really absorb yourself in this wonderful sport
This unique package retails from £300 per fishing person per night, down to £1350 if you stay six days. Other lengths of stay pro rata. Non fishing partners stay in the same room for £75 per night on a half board plus packed lunch basis
