Creating a boutique hotel in the Scottish Highlands

Fabrics for chairs & curtains, materials for carpets & wooden flooring and furniture for bedrooms & public rooms are just a few of the decisions currently in discussion to help us create a boutique hotel here in the Scottish Highlands.  We have created contemporary bathrooms with stone-tiled walls, white suites and chrome fittings, we have laid under-floor heating throughout, stone fire surrounds have been installed ready for roaring fires and the extension is nearly complete.  Now the fun begins as colour schemes and their corresponding furniture styles and finishings are added to mood boards for each bedroom, hallway and downstairs public room.

A boutique hotel needs style and colour that depict luxury and initmacy in a friendly and welcoming environment.  Muckrach’s positioning in the heart of the Scottish Highlands also lends the design to flashes of tartan & plaid and hints of thistles & red deer, not forgetting the hotel’s heritage in the Victorian era where panelled walls, ceiling roses and botanic artwork prevailed in the shooting lodges of the time.  Ultimately we want to create a relaxed ambiance with the quality and standards that you deserve, whether this be in your guest bedroom or whilst relaxing in one of the public rooms.

We visited the Independent Hotel Show in London yesterday, an event that brought together many fabulous businesses whose focus is to create the ultimate boutique hotel.  The day was filled with discussions about high quality pillows, duvets and bedding that will enhance your sleep experience on ‘the comfiest beds in the world’ from Hypnos beds.  The Hypnos mattresses are out of this world, so comfortable that we were wowed and the deal was completed at the show, in conjunction with the high quality furniture company, Frank Hudson.  Your nights should float away in the best sleep you have ever had.

A boutique hotel particularly in the Scottish Highlands should be filled with rich colours and plaids, rooms should feel unique & luxurious with a nod to Scotland and materials should be high quality & put together by craftsmen.  Time was therefore well spent with the material companies, fixture & fitting businesses and facility providers at the show yesterday.

Watch out for some extra special touches at Muckrach Country House Hotel inspired by the exciting businesses that we met at the show.  Muckrach will open in Spring 2015, an 11 bedroom Victorian Shooting Lodge in the heart of the Cairngorm National Park in the Scottish Highlands.  A Highland welcome awaits you.
