With over 50 malt whisky distilleries in one area, Speyside whisky offers a great choice of flavours. More than half the whisky distilleries of Scotland are in this one concentrated area, greater than the other whisky regions; Highlands, Lowlands and island of Islay. To celebrate Speyside's fabulous offerings, the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival runs for 5 days over the first May bank holiday each year and is packed full of events.
Burns Night on January 25th is celebrated the world over, an evening where Scotland leads the celebration of the life and legacy of one of the world’s most famous literary figures, Robert Burns on what was his birthday. Where a wee dram, a haggis, a piper and Auld Lang Syne feature in an unrivalled evening celebrating a poet. 5 years after his death, the first Burns supper was held and from there the world has held a celebratory supper on the 25th January.
Winter holidays in the Cairngorms are fun and refreshing! We spent Hogmanay in the Highlands this year and it was wonderful. We arrived to light snow on the lower ground and great powder in the mountains, with fresh mountain air to blow the Christmas cobwebs away.
