The Highland Games have been around for hundreds of years. They are said to have originated as a clan chieftain’s way of choosing the fittest fighters and best bodyguards about. Choosing staff was often done by holding competitions – such as dancers, runners, strong men & entertainers.
The Games are a very popular gathering in Scotland, they attract people from all over the world.
The Grantown on Spey Highland games this year will take place at Heathfield Park on the 25th of August this year.
The events include Piping, Highland Dancing, Glenfiddich Heavy Events Championship, Track and Field, Tug O’’ War and Cycling are just a few to be named. The day will start at 10am and will finish around 5pm.
